About Us

Empowering Communities Through Career Development

Medical Careers Readiness of North Carolina (MCR) was established in December 2018 with a mission to serve the Vance County, Warren, Franklin, and Granville County regions. These areas are historically known as socially and economically disadvantaged. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately 28% of Vance County residents live below the federal poverty level, a rate 60% higher than the statewide average of 17.5%. Poverty levels are most significant in Henderson, Southern Oxford, and Butner. In response to these statistics, MCR is dedicated to promoting self-sufficiency among all individuals, including low- and moderate-income families, by offering specialized training programs focused on career development and long-term sustainability.
